Nokia to Symbian: I want to see other people.
Nokia was notably absent from the list of OHA members at launch. For some perhaps not a surprise: Nokia's relationship with Symbian has been strong and mutually beneficial, and Nokia's didn't seem to ba an adulterer.
Now, however, there's indication from Nokia that it may be looking to play the field. BBC news is reporting that the Finnish mobile giant has been in talks with Google. According to Nokia UK's managing director Simon Ainslie, as quoted in the BBC piece, "We are always open to discussion and debate on that. ...We are having ongoing discussions with Google."
Meanwhile, Symbian is getting catty at the prospect of competition for Nokia's affection. In the same story John Forsyth, vice-president of strategy basically accused Google of being immature, flaky, "deeply unsexy", and made some sort of bizarre comment about developers in bed (!?).
He also called Google a slut (I made that part up).
