Do youself a favour: go over to ONLamp.com and read Brian DeLacey's "Google Calling: Inside Android, the gPhone SDK". This is a fantastic, in-depth, insightful summary of everything Android so far. DeLacey covers the OHA, the SDK, architecture, fragmentation issues, the whole deal.
